Make Oatmeal Milk

I love oatmeal! It is so cheap and filling. I always buy tons of it and do a lot of baking with it and eating it. My whole family loves it. So when I got my new issue of Country side magazine the other day in the mail , I just freaked when I seen a thing written about how to make milk out of oatmeal. So I decided to try it out. I love soy milk , since I am allergic to milk, so this seemed great for me. I made some oatmeal milk!! Put a cup of oatmeal in a blender, add water to within an inch of top and blend for a minute, then put through a sieve. Great -- taste like soy milk. you can add flavor to it too, like vanilla. Great for baking and since milk can be expensive and I always have oatmeal on hand. This is perfect.

I love freebies & samples

I just love getting freebies and samples in the mail. I go to Today's Web-Freebies Blog to find the best freebies to sign up for and my mail box is full every single day. My mail lady really does not like me. Sometimes she has to bring all of my mail to the door in a box!! But I have tons of stuff stockpiled up for when needed. Sample stuff is great for traveling also. Great for kids. My son loves the little bottles of shampoo and toys that he gets in the mail. He gets toothbrushes and stuff like that too.

Saves some money getting freebies in the mail.

Have a Frugal Father's Day

Nobody has influenced your life quite like your Father, Stepfather, Uncle or beloved father figure. And for one day this year, you're probably going to join millions of other Americans in celebrating everything your Father means to you. But as Father's Day approaches, you may be struggling to find the perfect way to surprise him while staying within this year's tight budget.

Just because you're being conscious of your spending doesn't mean Father's Day has to feel frugal. Keep in mind that this is Dad's special day-anything can make the perfect gift, as long as the sentiment is right. With that in mind, consider these inexpensive gifts ideas just for Dad.

Record A Video

Dads like to know how you feel, just as much as Moms do! And sometimes Dads don't hear often enough how much they are cherished. A creative, heartfelt gift for Dad can be inexpensive (even free) and mean more to him than a more costly material item. And believe it or not, he'll probably treasure your sentiments much more than that new tie you were considering.

Before the holiday, set aside some time to be alone, or meet with siblings or Mom. Reminisce about Dad and all the ways he's impacted you throughout your life. Take the opportunity to be nostalgic. Make a list of your best family memories, all the lessons Dad has taught you, or all the opportunities he's provided for you. Then, if you have a camera available to use or borrow, pour out these thoughts and feelings on video for Dad to watch again and again. If you don't have a camera, just write them down, and send Dad a hand-written letter.

Take Care Of Chores

Most Dads work hard and don't ask for much in return. Whether it's working in the yard, around the house, on the car, or on the road, Dads usually do whatever they feel is necessary for their families to live the lives they deserve. This Father's Day, consider giving Dad a much needed break by tending to all the extra jobs he takes on to make you and your family's lives cleaner and easier.

Dad will be sure to appreciate being able to put up his feet and enjoy a relaxing afternoon, or spend some time outside playing his favorite sport while you tend to the yard or the car. Lawn mowing, hedge trimming, fence painting, gardening, and car washing are all excellent places to start. If possible, make the housework a family affair, and involve Mom and siblings too. It's a practical, easy, and very inexpensive gift that will not only show Dad your appreciation, but provide him with a nice change of pace.

Make Time

There are many great gifts for Dad that can't be purchased or even wrapped. A sentimental video, a day at the lake and a day off from chores are just the beginning. These ideas can be free or easy on your wallet, and really only require one major investment: time.

This Father's Day, even if you're watching your spending, you can give the gift of time set aside with only Dad in mind. Consider who your Dad is and what his favorite activities are. What are his hobbies? If he had no other obligations, what would Dad do with a day to himself? Those are the types of activities you may want to consider inviting him to share with you and your family on his special day. For a creative way of presenting Dad's special time, try making personalized coupons or invitations and disguising them as standard gifts.

No matter what gift you decide to give this Father's Day, remember that Dad will love and appreciate any gift crafted or chosen with him in mind. Want more inexpensive holiday ideas? A Frugal Laundry

You can make your own laundry items for a lot less than buying them and usually the stuff it takes to make them is already sitting in your cupboard.

Homemade fabric softener:

1/2 cup of white vinegar
Fill your washing machine with water. Add the baking soda with the clothing. During the final rinse cycle, add the white vinegar.

Homemade laundry soap:

1/2 cup soap flakes
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup washing soda

You also need a clean 16 ounce plastic container with a good lid.

To make the soap flakes, lightly grate a bar of Ivory, with a kitchen grater.
In a large bowl mix all of the ingredients together. Store in plastic container. Use about 1/2 cup of the mixture in each load.

Frugal & Healthy

There are many ways to watch your budget and your health. Here is a list of some foods that are healthy and low cost.

1. Oats!! You can buy huge boxes of this for cheap and it is very healthy. You can add stuff to it to make it more to your taste also.

2. Eggs!! These are cheap and you can do a lot with them. Make omelets , scramble them, etc. I love taking scrambled eggs and shredded cheese and putting them in tortillas for breakfast. Cheap and filling.

3. Potatoes!! A big bag of them can make tons of different things. I have stopped buying prepared fries and hashbrowns. I make my own and everyone in the family likes them better. I also make my own scalloped potatoes. They are cheap and versatile. Very filling too.

4. Apples!! An apple a day keeps the doctor away!! My kids love apples and will eat them before anything else.

5. Nuts!! You can get them pretty cheap and they are very good for you.

6. Bananas!! Cheap and a great, healthy snack. We also slice them up and put them on our oats!

7. Whole grain pasta!! Pasta is something that I always have on hand. there are so many things that you can do with it. We sometimes just like to fix pasta and put butter on it and eat it that way.

8. Spinach!! I have weird kids and they LOVE spinach!! I fix it by itself and add it to soups, lasagna, etc.

9. Lowfat milk!! It is always cheaper than whole milk and it is better for you. I also use a lot of dry milk in my cooking.

Get Creative To Save Money!!

The first rule of saving money is to spend less than you make. But, with prices on everything going up and up , it is not easy to do. So it's really important to make wise choices about what you do with your money. You need to be creative when money is tight.
Here are some ideas on how to save money in creative ways:

1. This is an obvious idea -- BUY LESS!! Before you buy anything , think about it long and hard! Do you REALLY need it???

2. Trade your stuff with others. Have a clothing swap party! Use that idea and come up with other type of "SWAP" parties that you could have.

3. Sell the stuff you already have and do not use to make the extra money for that "extra" stuff you want. Have a yard sale, sell it on ebay, or set up at flea markets.

4. Buy , salvage, repair, or re-purpose used stuff. Do not go out and buy new things if you have something that might need repaired. Shop at thrift stores and yard sales.

5. Make your own stuff. Learn how to sew. Bake your own bread, cookies, and cakes. Go to the library and get a book on how to make stuff homemade and do it.

6. Start your own garden!! Veggies taste so much better fresh! Get a rain barrel to catch water to use on your yard and garden.

Use some of these ideas and come up with your own to save money. Have fun with coming up with ways to save money. get the whole family involved.
